Why am I failing?

Have you ever asked yourself that question?  Of course you have :: because you’re a failure … and failures ask themselves questions all the time. Do I look fat in this? Why did I say that? Why can’t I stop thinking about ranch dressing?

James Arthur Ray doesn’t ask himself questions. His attention flows where his energies go … or something like that. He has failed as badly as a person could possibly fucking fail. In the last two years …

  • four people died at his events
  • he got arrested
  • his debt laden company dissolved back into mud
  • he couldn’t afford to post bond
  • his physical appearance deteriorated dramatically
  • he lost the ability to walk in an unchicken like fashion

… and yet :: does he question himself?

Fuck NO!

He’s right back out there “mentoring” :: sharing the many secrets to his “success”. For the last several weeks Death Ray has been emailing his list with an offer for some sweet mentorship action. I’m going to reprint the whole thing for the record :: even though it’s stupidly long. Keep in mind as you read it {or just skip it and save yourself some suffering} :: he’s not trying to be ironical …

Subject: Thank you for your patience

I’m writing because you invested in at least one (if not multiple) postponed events with JRI; and I truly understand how it must be frustrating or at the very least disappointing. Thank you so very much for your patience and understanding during a difficult time.

Do you think it’s possible to maintain true Harmonic Wealth® in the darkest and most difficult time you’ve ever faced? I can assure you that it is; and while I’ll never suggest it’s easy… it is possible.

I realize that, just like me, many are going through very tough times in our world right now; and if you’re in a challenging situation like I am, I can certainly relate to what you’re dealing with at a deeper level than I ever could before.

Not only am I the same teacher and mentor you chose to help you, but through this difficult time I’ve developed an even broader understanding of how to help you through the greatest of life-challenges. If you’re facing difficulties, I promise you’re not alone; and I want to help you in the best and most powerful way that I can.

So, I’ve taken a lot of time for reflection in the last several months; and I’ve developed a way for you to learn better, faster, and more consistently than ever before.

What I have to offer you is by far the most valuable program I’ve ever developed. Unlike a two to five day event that often fades over time with very little follow through, this program is ongoing and consistent… for six months. And it provides more direct access to me than I’ve ever allowed in the past.

It’s called the Mentoring Event… and here’s how it works:

First, you’ll receive multiple lessons from me in mp3 format, including an extensive downloadable workbook that’s directly related to all these specific lessons. All of my teachings and live events are grounded in the principles taught in these lessons; and I’ve learned so much more over the last year.

In this comprehensive package you’ll learn:

  • How to gain the physical strength and vitality that you truly deserve…
  • How to let go of past limitations and breakthrough to new levels of achievement…
  • How to build habits of thoughts, feelings, and actions that guarantee you create the results you desire in all areas of life..
  • The three secrets of compensation and how to guarantee maximum returns immediately…
  • The seven internal drivers that cause you to take action, and how to get moving in the right direction fast…
  • How to understand and master the six keys of influence to use with all those you contact…
  • How to vanquish procrastination once and for all…
  • The single most important factor for visualizing that most students (and teachers) don’t know…
  • How to create powerful relationships and partnerships…
  • The keys to living a truly wealthy, happy and fulfilled life…
  • And much more! As you’re probably aware, in this convenient streaming format you can download the lessons to your iPod, and take them with you wherever you go.

As we discussed earlier, we’ve all had a very difficult year; and understanding these principles has been a life-saver during the most difficult times I’ve ever faced. I trust it will do the same for you.

I’m confident that these lessons and principles with transform your life–no matter what you’re facing–if you’ll just make the commitment to truly study and dive deep with this information and allow it to become internalized within you.

And by the way… I promise you’ve never experienced learning and transformation in the all new way I’m about to share with you!

So now, for the best part of all… the Mentoring…

For 26 straight weeks (that’s a full six months) you’ll receive a never before released lesson and an important assignment–directly from me–to complete each and every week.

But don’t worry you won’t be alone, because once each week you’ll join me by streaming video, again with never before released material, where I’ll take that week’s lesson to greater depth and detail… so that you truly learn, understand, retain, and apply these strategies into every single area of your life.

In addition the audios of these video mentoring sessions will be recorded and available via mp3 as well… so you can listen to them again and again.

Each week you’ll also receive an additional workbook, designed specifically for you by me, with assignments to complete for that week–new things to think–to feel–to notice–and to act upon–so you’re guaranteed to put what we’ve explored and learned into constant action in your life.

Furthermore, at least once each month, , we’ll have a live Q&A call during which  any questions you may have will get answered; and we’ll clarify any points that aren’t 100%clear for you. Here’s where you make the jump from just “knowing about” something to truly knowing it and owning it.

And yes, these calls will be recorded and archived as well… for your continued repetition and use.

Remember when I said this program was ongoing and consistent?

Well, these lessons continue every single week for six months!

You’ll learn how to specifically define and prioritize the actions that bring the fastest results and much more!

Now I’m sure you’re aware of what you invested with JRI to attend the events for which you enrolled. But, I really want to over-deliver for you since you’ve been so very patient and understanding… and this is one way I can do it. Thank goodness for the internet or this would never be possible.

When you consider:

  • The amount of personal mentoring and teaching you’ll receive…
  • All of the training materials…
  • Mentoring video’s from me each and every week with never before released information and insights…
  • mp3 lessons of  all the principles and lessons, all the weekly video mentoring sessions, and all the live conference calls…
  • Specific weekly assignments, exercises, and workbooks directly from me, with the practices that guarantee results…
  • Monthly conference calls, for you to get all your questions answered…
  • Lifetime free access and membership to review these materials again and again…
  • All the personal time and attention for six months…

I’m hopeful that you’ll see how this provides tremendous life-changing benefits; and is extremely more valuable than what you originally invested in.

Think about it, the event(s) you originally signed up for were a few days long and that was it. With the Mentoring Event I’ve added much more value to this than the sum total of all the others combined.

For example, at those events, you were in a large room with hundreds of other people and chances are that the closest you’d get was seeing me on stage. With this event you’ll have direct mentoring as well as personal telephone contact for six months. And now you won’t have to travel… which makes it easier and much more cost effective for you to participate.

I just want to share with you again how much I appreciate you choosing me as your teacher and mentor; and how very grateful I am for your patience and understanding during the last year. Providing this Mentoring Event experience is the absolute best and most powerful way I can continue to help you.

I encourage you to take a moment and consider what your life will be like after six months of consistent daily/weekly/monthly learning and application? How different will your thoughts, feelings, and actions be after more than a six month intensive? How different will your results be… for the rest of your life!

Oh, and please remember that I’ll be recording all these lessons, videos, and calls and storing them on line; and you’ll have the lifetime free access to reference them again and again. Remember repetition is the second law of learning and transformation.

This new Mentoring Event is something that will forever transform your life. I know what this information has done for me over the years, and for countless others; and I’ve learned so much more that I’m excited to share with you.

I truly hope you’ll allow me to help you get the life-changing information you want and need… and put it into practice like never before.

Let me help you make the next year the very best year of your entire life thus far. Click the “enroll me now” button below and let’s get started. I’ll look forward to helping and mentoring you really soon.

Much love and respect,

James Arthur Ray

It’s on Kajabi?!?

What the fuck? How is that possible? {seriously … somebody tell me how that happened}

Y’all think there are lots of different stories on this fake robot blog.  But you’re wrong.  It’s all one story. One sick :: sick :: sick fucking story.

Anywayz :: here’s another fun page served up by Andy Jenkins {and his not-super friends} for James “Death” Ray :: http://jamesray.kajabi.com/disclaimers/704 :: the “terms of use” for the Crapjabi based mentorship site …

Sign up for the mentorship program and you accidentally surrender any and all previous claims against his holiness the telemarketer.

Ok people, I’m missing something here. Why would James Ray connect himself with low level people like Andy Jenkins?? Also, why would Jenkins align himself with someone who is facing murder charges in a few months? I was asking myself a similar question about Tony Robbins and Kern. Tony Robbins is a big player compared to Kern and Co., no? What on earth would Kern be able to do for someone who’s reached the levels of scamming that Tony has?

Sometimes it feels as if the events that transpire on this blog are some kind of storyline script, this is just too weird.

@Rafael, follow the money, but are the syndicate runts really making all this big money for mainstream media quacks to give them the time of day?? I could see their value to James Ray, he’s broke, in trouble, and they can help him scam a little money up for legal fees, but how does Tony Robbins fit into this with Kern, who is also part of the syndicate runt circle.

For Ray, methinks he’s gaining access to online expertise he hasn’t had or didn’t have before. For the syndicate people, they’re gaining what is perceived to be a veneer of respectability by associating with big names like Robbins and even Death Ray. Throw access to the Death Ray and Banana Hands’ lists as the cherry on top.

All in all, I think these guys would throw each other under the bus the first chance they get, but won’t as long as the cash keeps rolling in. Unfortunately, I think these guys are going to make a ton of money (all they care about) at the expense of those who can least afford to spend it.

    @422,

Maybe I’ve been reading this blog too long but the Death Ray – Andy Jenkins connection actually makes sense (in a sick sort of way).

We all know none of these pricks do anything out of the goodness of their heart because you can’t get light from darkness. Everything they do is self centered and greed driven.

Death Ray is awaiting trial and needs JVs to scam people to get the bills paid.

Kajabi was a flop in every way and Jenkins needs fresh meat to pay the bills.

Anybody who would pay for mentoring from someone like Death Ray is the perfect candidate for someone who would get sucked into Kajabi and vise versa.

The over the top, after the sales page disclaimer is just Bullying 101 for the same victim profile to minimize support, refunds and liability.

Given the way Jenkins sucked up to Walker in that infamous nauseating phone call he probably did a similar win/win suck up pitch to Death Ray.

It’s a no risk proposition for a sociopath like Death Ray and minimal risk for a kiss ass like Jenkins.

The potential upside? Just imagine the deluge of positive thinking, overcome all adversity crystals, snake oil and frauducts that would hit the boiler rooms if Death Ray beats the murder raps. Downside … he’s convicted and just another Kajabi user, life goes on (for some).

The Syndicate – Robbins connection is however a bit more puzzling, but I have a theory.

Years ago, a friend of mine lent me a Robbins tape (that tells you how long ago) that I was just amazing, blah, blah.

I think it was called Ultimate Power, but not sure. Anyway, on this tape (yes tape), Robbins blathers on about how we’re programmed similar to a Mac and we just need to be properly conditioned to succeed. Apparently he was getting some sort of error on his Mac and his friend told him that it just hadn’t been conditioned or properly trained yet, then proceeded to show him how to condition his Mac.

I think he was trying make an NLP analogy but all I could think at that point was “what an idiot”.

My theory … Robbins doesn’t appear to be the sharpest knife in the drawer when it comes to technology. My guess is The Syndicate made some touch the hem of his garment pitch based on the “mysterious and magical internet” that they have “mastered” and dollar signs with JVs begin to flash and ring like a Vegas slot machine.

The assumption here is a business partnership between Jenkins and Ray–it could be that Ray is a mere customer. Furthermore, these circles are very small. Look at James Arthur Ray’s old blog and you’ll find all sorts of names that when you connect the dots leads back to the Syndicate and other scammers.

The Robbins/Syndicate connection is just as obvious. Robbins has been hawking infomercial-based get-rich/fit scams since the 80′s. The Syndicate is just infomercial 2.0.

I guess Ray expects his trial to drag on a bit. That’s probably a safe bet, given the massive amounts of evidence against him that’s been piled up.

I was going to write that that is the stupidest and most offensive piece of writing from a new age guru that I’ve ever seen, but then I remembered that email on the night of sweat lodge where he declared the event a “success” despite some participants “having taken ill”.

“Do you think it’s possible to maintain true Harmonic Wealth® in the darkest and most difficult time you’ve ever faced? I can assure you that it is”

Just hit yourself in head with a lump of wood please James.

“I realize that, just like me, many are going through very tough times in our world right now; and if you’re in a challenging situation like I am…”

This is aimed at other crims, right?

“What I have to offer you is by far the most valuable program I’ve ever developed”

I find that very easy to believe, but didn’t you say that about all the other courses too?

“And it provides more direct access to me than I’ve ever allowed in the past.”

That says a lot about you James. Also says a lot about how much the perceived value of having direct access to you has plummetted.

“As we discussed earlier, we’ve all had a very difficult year…”

Yeah, we all have, haven’t we all – the economic crisis, the weather, some of us might’ve gotten ourselves charged with three counts of manslaughter, and so on…

“… and understanding these principles has been a life-saver during the most difficult times I’ve ever faced”

Hell I’m already a murderer, what’s wrong with a little scamming? And just to make sure that I fuck them good and proper I’ll write a disclaimer so the idiots can’t get their money back.”

He’s probably deluded himself into believing that it wasn’t his fault that those people died.

Most people after killing 4 innocent people would be so ashamed that they would never want to show their face to the world ever again. It takes a very cold hearted monster to kill 4 people and then to carry on scamming WHILE IN PRISON!

People think that listening to gurus is better than listening to relatives and local “strangers”.

    What a no-no

It’s hard to approach and create a space in which you share and stimulate ideas with people on the streets and in your community, (A context) they might be busy, they might think you are weird. So you lock yourself out from the chance to create relationships and create cool things with the people who pass you by every single day.

Im beginning to question the conventional ideas of identity crisis, depression lack of lack of self-confidence and image and lifestyle as the most important stuff individuals should focus on.

Politicians, gurus, and phsycologists aren’t gonna give you ideas about how you create environments based on mututal cooperation between strangers, that allows us to learn and share skills, create and work on common purpose, outside the hum drum seriousness of politics and status and ideologies.

To create new spaces, and not get caught up in finished design. Facebook does something and something it doesn’t,
just like most stuff, I like facebook but most of what i do on it, is still just stuff.

I mean(You dont have to mean the same things btw) new spaces that really brings people together and infuse them with ideas and great achivements. I think, Imagination, immortal symbols or monuments(the great pyramids) empathy and applied knowlege is key here.

This is not a final thought, it’s not ideology but a curiosity for “updating” environments, without getting too caught up in the words “updating” and “environment”.

And also very importanly not getting caught up in the present associations of the word “common purpose”, should inflated words such as teamwork ever pop up, just delete it. The same with “mass rebellion” and “communism.”

It’s more like space, space, ideas, actions and a sense of wonder, like within this space something big is going on and you feel it And see it. Oh and it’s not a concert. It may be nothing, imagination and nothingness.

And yes it’s totally real, because it involves people and testing and trying new things. (Although it’s not real “yet”, actually just erase what the word “yet” pressupose.)

Its not something totalitarian ideologial bullshit that cloack the world, its more practical, like yo can go there and you can go somewhere else, and you can go back to the hum drum of everyday environments.

    Is it the internet?
Maybe it it is, maybe it’s not, maybe it’s the internet + something else. Don’t tell me, think it out yourself.

    Think practical-critical-imagination,application,

Not pop new-age cosmic universe mantra-thoughts.

If you wanna “know about” the comsic and the universe
Don’t go to Joe Vitale, go to Stephen Hawkins. I think he’s better, or maybe there are some old books with good ideas and theories about stuff- thats- not- on- earth that not related to selfish make-believe money- manifestation.

Don’t let James and the New-age retards lock you up in a compulsive narcicistic thougt system that makes you think you know something.

They are like a little creed of hucksters and douchebag-agents making money with their continious shit-flood of counterintelligence.

We are creeping ourself out, new ideas, creeps you out, creeps me out.
It’s damn hard to influence anyone anymore, because one kind of incluence is associated with all the insincere mass media bullshit that came before it.

No i don’t hate mass media and Im not some anti-advertising preacher, and if I was, you wouldn’t know, because I wouldn’t let you know it with a single critical remark of advertising. I would try to go to “depth” and not use surface cool-talk to prove my point

Anyway, use this post for good or don’t, you can also trash it for good if you like, I hope(techno hope)that I’m not bothering you and you are not bothered by me.

    So to recap:

    1. My main point or vague idea was something about new environments, new interactions between people in a space where there would be a turning down of the “im busy, what you have to say” mentality.
New words, new language, billions of testing of different social interactions, learning fostering learning fostering learning really really fast, and much more stuff that would seem very very “weird” in normal interactions, but without rendering old interactions obsolete, like there’s already the base of everday life and everday environments, and they would still be dominant and only stupid idiots would be outraged and fear that there would be chaos and threat to the “social order of things”

    1. My second point was to really really despise the “new age movement”, and I really want to stress the importance of not submitting attach oneself too much to the idea of new age. I mean, is it really a new age? If so, where it is? Does it fall down from the sky?

Have a dose of skepticism towards someone who talks about a new age, while simultaneously presenting himself as an authority who has already stepped into it, and you just need to follow him, because his fucking amazing mind has created an easy road for everyone to follow, an easy road, a road you “have to” take, a “neccesity”.

“Neccesisty”(as in “this is a neccesity”) is not the same thing as neccesity.

Hi, this is a little off-topic, but I wanted to make a comment about the book “Tragedy In Sedona,” written by one of Death Ray’s former followers.

I was prepared to be shocked by nothing in the book in light of what we know now. However, I was FLOORED at the way JAR lied to his tour participants. I know that these lies pale in comparison to the deaths of four people, but I still want to mention this.

JAR took a group to Peru in August of 2009, right after Colleen Conaway’s death and before the Sweat Lodge. It took him months to arrange permission from the government to conduct a night-time ceremony at Macchu Picchu. Also, JAR’s own teacher lived in nearby Cusco, and the tour participants were going to get to meet this guy who had had such a great influence on JAR’s life.

Well, when they got to Peru, the permission to conduct the ceremony was revoked. The tour participants were disappointed, but there were plenty of other activities to make the trip worthwhile. They did get to meet JAR’s teacher, although Ray acted funny around this guy and didn’t want anyone talking to him.

Much later, the author of the book discovered that: (1) the Peruvian government NEVER gives permission for night-time ceremonies at Macchu Picchu, and Ray knew this in advance. Yet he led his followers on by giving them updates on how the red-tape issues were progressing in the months leading up to the trip, although he was fabricating everything. (2) the teacher that JAR spoke so highly of is a humble TOUR GUIDE. That’s right, the fellow is a tour guide and had no idea that Ray was telling people that he was some sort of shaman or guru. That’s why Ray didn’t want anybody speaking to the man while they were visiting Peru.

I know that these lies are small potatoes, but I am amazed at the nerve this man had/has.

    Thank you for your comments.

I knew nothing about the Peru trip until I read Connie Joy’s book. She also mentions that Ray had shown certain pictures of Peruvian locations to someone (forgot who), asking what the names were.

Apparently he had only been to Peru ONCE and had not studied there, as he claimed. He assembled a sort of “cliff notes” version in order to give the impression that he knew the country very well.

I know I shouldn’t be shocked at anything, but this does amaze me. How can a person sleep at night, carrying on that level of subterfuge???

I guess what gets me is that this is all so unnecessary. JAR must have felt that he had to lie about the night-time ceremony on Macchu Picchu and the tour-guide/shaman situation in order to get more money out of people.

I would have thought that he could have gotten just as many sign-ups by telling the truth.

@Hippo When normal people lie during childhood, it causes us so much anxiety,we avoid it. People like Ray create a web of lies around themselves, starting at an early age, then,at some point, they can no longer discern truth from reality.

Based on Dr.Michael Stone’s “22 Categories of Evil”, I would place Ray as a 12 or 14, but maybe he was a 19 because I agree with @Yakaru, that Ray’s a sadist who tormented his followers for years, until he “crossed the line” with Colleen.

    @Cosmic Connie,

I wanted to thank you again for the recommendation of Connie Joy’s book. It drove me a little crazy, due to the typographical errors and mis-uses of words (exasperate as opposed to exacerbate, could of instead of could have, etc.), plus her obvious devotion to woo-woo principles.

However, it was still a worthwhile read, and an eye-opener. I wasn’t shocked about the sweat lodge, because I already knew about that, but all the unnecessary lying amazed me.

It’s also possible that she isn’t as woo-woo as she comes across; her book is from a New Age publisher, and they may want a certain amount of that stuff in there.

    Cosmic Connie Reply:

@Hippo, You’re welcome. I too was frequently distracted by typos, inconsistencies, and misused words (that “exasperate/exacerbate” confusion really stuck out for me). I even had included a rather detailed summary of those blunders in the original draft of my inordinately long blog post about the book, but I deleted most of it because I thought the post was already more than long enough.

I did get the distinct impression that the book itself was somewhat of a rush job, intended to be out in time for the trial, which was originally scheduled to begin August 31 of this year.

And yes, the publisher (who is apparently not a exactly a publisher in the traditional sense, but offers more of a collaborative business model) does seem to be focused on woo-woo material. As I recall, Ms. Joy explains in the book that the publisher told her she would only publish Tragedy in Sedona on the condition that it was *not* a muckraking book attempting to scare readers away from spiritual self-help. Those were not the exact words but that is the essence.

I get the idea that New-Agey beliefs/practices are more of a force of habit for Ms. Joy than anything else, since she’s been into it for so many years in various forms. Maybe all of this has really shaken her up even more than she let on in the book. In any case I think she performed a valuable service by writing the book, flawed as it is, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see sales of Tragedy in Sedona really pick up as February 16 approaches. (Disclaimer: I’m not an affiliate, though maybe I should be!)

I must say that I was shocked that Ms. Joy is/was such a big fan of Sylvia Browne and “The Secret.” I had to really force myself to continue reading, because I was getting seriously turned off.

But she really is the perfect person to write this book; somebody who spent so much time with JAR and who still feels she benefited from his work–unless, of course, she’s acting more positive than she feels for the benefit of the publisher.

    @Jean D,
Thanks for highlighting all that weird stuff with his South American non-teachers. Looking at all those photos in Ray’s Flickr account, showing him prancing about in the forest like a pumped up action figure, just confirms his lack of understanding of shamanism, to say nothing of nature. I doubt he’s ever spent much time (if any) alone in the wilderness at all.

I said earlier that I wasn’t surprised by the extent of his lying about that. I wasn’t trying to be know-all, rather I was thinking of a woman called Marlo Morgan who became world famous as the self proclaimed guardian of Australian Aboriginal culture. She told a story about meeting an ancient tribe and learning their entire culture in a few months wandering through the desert with them. In fact she was working in a pharmacy in Brisbane the whole time. The only Aborigines she ever met were the one telling her to shut up. (She’s also a product of Oprah.) Her book sold tens of millions of copies in a couple of dozen languages. Compared to her, Death Ray’s lies are pretty lame.

That really shows what a bind Ray’s legal team are in. Coz they were claiming he had been quoted out of context and had given adequate warnings. If that were true, the proof would be on that tape. By refusing to submit it, they are putting themselves in a position where they can’t credibly challenge any accounts of the witnesses. The prosecution can just say “play the tapes then.” It must become clear to everyone that what is on the tapes is more damaging than anything a witness can say.

I also notice the prosecution has called Michele Goulet’s ex-boyfriend as a witness. From what I recall, he had an unpleasant experience at the 2008 sweat lodge. Can’t quite remember what, but I seem to recall it involved some serious freaking out and a rift with his totally amoral girlfriend.

For a man with no sense of irony, I wonder how Death Ray will react when he sees the prosecution’s most compelling argument that the tape isn’t private (and therefore protected).

“…grant JRI and its affiliated companies…the unrestricted right to fix Participant’s image, participation and/or performance, as it appears in the event, in whole or in part, by any means or method; and to use Participant’s name, voice, image and/or likeness as it appears in the event, by any means, in any form, content or medium… and in order to advertise, promote or market JRI and its events.”

    @Jean D,

In fairness to Ms Bowen, she does openly acknowledge that she was a fan, and in the interviews she gave after the sweat lodge she sounded genuinely horrified by Ray’s behaviour. Interesting though that she’s not called as a witness – though maybe one should also note that the defense also hasn’t called her either.

Her book seems to be about accountability in the self help movement, rather than about fraud, lies and willful ignorance, but you can’t have everything I suppose. Connie Joy’s “Tragedy in Sedona” book did a good job of exposing Ray, but she was still happily endorsing Sylvia Browne. She also claimed in an interview that God Himself prevented her from going to the sweat lodge, despite the fact that she had seen the danger clearly and even warned others about it. I guess it takes a while for people to work through the narcissism that the New Age is designed to provoke and exploit.

I give Shawna Bowens a provisional pass on that too, as long as she’s prepared to publically throw JAR under the bus he built for himself.

Posting a social proof pic with Dr Teeth is a bit worrying though, for aesthetic as well as ethical reasons.

I think it is good for me to occasionally be reminded that people and issues are complex, and different people might have similar experiences and yet come to different conclusions about them.

In any case, I’ll be very interested in reading Shawna’s book. It is smart of her to be releasing it as we’re on the countdown to the beginning of James Ray’s manslaughter trial. I just got a notice that Shawna is now following me on Twitter, so she’s obviously making the social media rounds in hopes of getting publicity for her book.
